Luxury

Luxury is pleasure, and the art of pleasure is something sophisticated that requires the full satisfaction of senses. In other words, it cannot be obtained only through an expensive bag or a luxurious car. Smell, taste, touch, sight and hearing should all be satisfied in order to reach climax.

So talking about luxury and senses, don't the seven deadly sins come to mind?  Aren't lust, pride or gluttony linked with pleasure and the satisfaction of senses? And aren't they actually GLAMOROUS?

Throughout the course of history there has been one name that was always liked to sin – Eve. So if in the times of the earthly paradise, Eve, was the one who discovered pleasure, my question is, who is the Eve that in the era of technology knows everything about luxury?

I came up with the answer that Eva Kant is today's Eve. In fact, she always had clear ideas on luxury since yes, she did love jewels, and especially diamonds, but she also appreciated the beauty of prestigious paintings, fine furnished homes and the so called bella vita. Eva loves jewels, which satisfy the human nature of owning rare objects, she loves paintings which harmonize her sight, she is crazy for her wonderful houses which offer comfort and cosines, she enjoys fine food, but especially she has one thing that satisfies all her senses, and that is her man.

Eva is everything that a woman desires, she is beautiful, rich, and has a man who loves her; and isn’t love GLAMOROUS?

Tiffany Setting

For every perfect love story there is a perfect engagement ring, and it was Tiffany & Co., in 1886, who first launched the Tiffany Setting, the engagement ring as we know it today.

Tiffany’s diamonds have always been the symbol of luxury and glamour to the point that in 1848 Charles Lewis Tiffany was named “The King of Diamonds.” Since Tiffany purchased the French Crown Jewels, in 1887, its diamonds became the most cherished in the world. Tiffany’s diamonds, soon became the status-symbol of the finest people and families.

Tiffany’s diamonds are so precious and exquisite not only because of their design, but thanks to their quality. Tiffany & Co. has high standards for all 4Cs: cut, color, clarity and carat weight.

Cut is referred to the proportions of the facets on the surface of the diamond, therefore determining its brilliance, dispersion and scintillation. The issue is that by cutting the diamond, you sacrifice its size. What makes Tiffany special is that its diamonds are cut for beauty and not for size.

Color refers to the shade of the stone. A scale that goes from D to Z explains the color of  diamonds. Tiffany accepts only D to I diamonds.

Clarity is the measurement of the lack of imperfections of a diamond. It has a scale that goes from FL (flawless) to 13 (visible inclusions). Tiffany has high standards for the quality of its stones.
Finally, carat is the unit of measurement of a diamond’s weight. 1 carat corresponds to 0.2 grams and Tiffany’s Gemological Laboratory measures diamonds up to 1/1000 of a carat.

Tiffany Setting is the perfect fusion of quality and design, its beauty and romance embrace everything a woman should desire from an engagement ring. It is classic but classy, traditional but luxurious, and especially it is GLAMOROUS, just like the Tiffany brand itself.

Ulisse Sartini

Have you ever thought about ART as something luxurious and glamorous?

I love paintings and I find the representation of people mind-blowing. When I see a beautiful canvas, I just forget about the rest and concentrate on the image like if it were feeding my eyes.

Eva Kant and her partner recognize the value of paintings; this is the reason why they collect them, not only for their monetary value, but also for their ability to satisfy our senses.

Most people, when thinking of luxurious canvases, thing of Leonardo Da Vinci or Raffaello, but many don't know about this portraitist who has become my favourite "contemporary" painter. I call him contemporary, because he still works, but his technique is typical of the Renaissance.

Sartini, native of Piacenza, has been working in Milan since the beginning of his career and as I told you before, uses a technique typical of the Renaissance which reflects the inner beauty of bodies. During the course of his life, he has portrayed pictures of angles, popes, famous people and rich lovers of art who understood the potential value of his paintings.

Take a look at some of his portraits... aren't they beautiful? luxurious? glamorous?
